can any1 name some native aussie fish that are *easily* available through the pet stores and look good in a tank? plz be aware that i live in bundy so the range of stores and fish is sadly lacking (so far all i've seen is barras, perch - both gold and silver, and eel tailed catfish) i just want something that'll look alright but wont be a nuisance to fish not of its species

Cheers

hello.....? lol well would it be advisable to put something like an oscar in with them?

probably est to get the less predatory fish like rainbows gobies and gudgeons.

haven't seen any rainbows around, but thanx for the input.
is it possible to mix natives and tropicals? im thinkin of gettin a pleco catfish, would the barras leave it alone because of the barbs?

I've seen gudgeons at boylans.

I don't think the Barras will worry about the barbs, if it can fit in there mouth they'll eat it.

fug, how bigs ur eel tail then? pretty sure ur barras would eat it if they wanted wouldn't they? n-e 1 know how fast plecos grow?

Dude, you live in Bundy, catch your own!! You will be able to get rainbows, gobies etc. easily. You can probably get all kinds of perch, barra, saratoga etc. too. Join Queensland ANGFA and enjoy yourself, while sparing a thought for us southerners.

Cheers,
Ken.

lol could prob catch the gobies if i looked in the right spot, perch are easy to get, haven't been lucky enough to get a barra or saratoga yet though.

cheers for the input mates :)
