I just picked up a juvie Beani about 3.5 in and have 4 grow out Festae at 3 in. I was planning to keep a pair of Festae and sell back the others once I had a pair established. Can a Beani live with Festae in a 200G 6ft long set up?
There's no definite cookie cutter this fish can live with that fish etc... Beani IMO are a species only tank due their high level of aggression and their ease of getting stressed out, bloating then dying from bloat. I'm keeping a group of 6 Beani at 2"-3" in a 135 by themselves and all is well so far. What I see happening in that scenario is the Beani out growing the Festae then wreaking havoc on them.
I just think they are both really cool fish but have never seen the 2 mixed together. Maybe there is a reason why I guess. Anybody here keep the 2 together?
If those are the only fish in the 200g, you might be okay for a few months. Theres no real way to tell. But as Forrest said, your Beani will get bigger faster and will chase the Festae around. If one or more of the Festae retaliate, the Beani might bloat up from stress. Either way, you're risking one of the species.
