Can Bleach be removed from tank water with PRIME??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No

You would have to start the cycling process over. The benefical bacteria will not survive in bleach.

I know I would have to start the cycling all over, but since I and no one else knows what I am dealing with...this seems to be the solution unless I take the whole tank down. Either way I have to start all over again. I posted my thread about the worms in the Native section, hoping someone would be familar the lake worms but no one is.

If anyone knows if these things are beneficial as fry food or harmless let me know. Thanks.

if you have insects, and are trying to get rid of them, try dropping the temp as low as possible, i.e. chillers and ice, alternatively Increase temp as much as possible, see if that works before you try bleach... Long ears, im sure would dominate any insect population.

If you just let the tank sit for a week or so with a bubbler going, all the bleach will evaporate.

This is a stupid idea do not bleach the tank. What kind of pest do you have in the tank most likely it can be fixed by raising temps or adding salt.

I have had to bleach a tank before to get rid of parasites. I added a half gallon to a 125, let in run for a day then drained it completely. I refilled it a couple time letting it run for a day each time....this included intense vacuuming and scrubbing the entire tank really well each time. Then a final filling and letting it run for a couple days. I would use it as a last resort but it can be done.
