Can Clown Loaches Scratch Acrylic Tanks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't see why they would.

I have 5 CLs in my 100G acrylic and I can't see any scratches. Their spikes or whatever only are erect when they are under stress or in danger. It's similar to when a puffer puffs. Even if they did, interior scratches on acrylic don't show that much.

I would say no also. They are rarely ever out to where it could cause a problem. The only time I ever see them is when they are caught in a net.

They have sharp subocular spines that are retractable. Sometimes when you net these fish they will get stuck in the net.

That is their defense mechanism. If you're not careful handling these fish, then consequences happen.;)
