I have a 55g with a oscar about to lay eggs. In the tank there is a jack dempsey and a convict. Both seem to be sexually mature, and fairly sure they are males. Will anything happen?

I agree. I dont think they would be able to figure it out, but convicts will TRY to breed with anything. I have a female convict who has tried to breed with each and EVERY male I have put into the tank. First it was a synspillum then a heckelli then a african cichlid(forget which one) and then a blood parrot. They might try, but I dont think they will be able to fertilize the oscars eggs. Would be cool if they could though, jus to see how it looks. LOL
