Hello,

I have a Ery SP. Purple wolf in my 55gal right now, currently at... 7in or so and is doing fine its tankmates (redtail barracuda, striped pike characin, hoplo catfish). The question is, will the addition of a Ery Ery Red Wolf be an issue? Will the purple wolf and red wolf get along in the same tank?

A red wolf has popped up in a local FB group and I am considering picking it up. the Red wolf is 4-5in

my purple wolf never showed aggression to any of its other tankmates, so im hoping it would be chill with the new wolf.

Thanks,

Will need a big tank and lots of decor and plants for blind and hiding spots.

Reds a little more aggressive than purples.

The size difference is concerning. As well as if it was already cohabiting together at the same size then it would be better.

I suggest pass due to size difference and already established tankmates (mainly cud and characin). You may luck out and find a docile little wolf. But just imo.

damn it.. do you think they would fight off the bat? or would it be like... "fighting when the lights are out and I find a winner or loser in the morning" type of situation? my purple wolf is super chill, and i was hoping since the red wolf is smaller it wouldent really try to mess with the purple

also, if needed I can provide PVC caves for it, as my tank is barebottom with absolutely no decorations

I Agree with kno4te. Tanks to small, due to size difference the purple will bully the red possibly fatally, and also, if you were to try this you'd need more than 2. I'm pretty sure you'd see aggression from the purple as soon as you introduce the red. These guys aren't really nocturnal.

Damn it lol... Cohabing the two would have been fun... If only they were about the same size

do you guys think it would have been okay if the two were about the same size? just wondering

I have had just two each of different types, purple and red, and ended up with one. I had 3 red together in a 150 and was full of dw/plants and was ok till my heater malfunctioned and everything died. Another member had similar by has been a while now.

When I had the 2 there was some flairing and nipping. At night is when the damage would happen and wake up to a dead little wolf.

It can be done with big tanks and lots of decor/plants for hiding and breaking up lines of sight. Sometimes keep more than 2 of the same sp with similar sizes will work. Keeping some large dithers like SD's will help.

I say keep the peace and keep what's working.

Same size still wouldn't work as kno4te said, not enough of them and your tank isn't big enough

soooo.... i picked up the red wolf. lol...

i didnt try to put them in the same tank tho, you guys were right, the size difference was scary different. I currently have the smaller one in my quarantine tank. the red wolf is new to the tank, but its way more active than my purple wolf
