I have had 5 Ghost Shrimp in a brackish tank with a sg of 1.004 for over a month now and are doing great. I will be raising the sg slowly up to around 1.020. Have you tried this yourself and can they make the change?

My guess is they'll be fine. I had some in a brackish tank for months and they grew like crazy. Ty it and let us know!

I will be raising the salt more tomarrow.

I doubt they can handle full salt. If you really want ghost shrimp in full salt, see if you can get one of the natural brackish/euryhaline species like Palaemonetes vulgaris or P. pugnax. They're pretty common along the east coast.

I get "saltwater ghost shrimp" at my store...I wonder all the time if they are the same thing as fw ghost shrimp. Looking forward to answers to this thread.

So far so good. The extra salt in in the tank. The Ghost are very active all over the tank. I am not sure if it is a good behavior or bad yet. I will keep you posted.

Great, thanks for updating. In FW, the ghost shrimp seem to hang out on the bottom/on decorations...but the SW ghost shrimp seem much more active, running up and down the sides of the tank and all over stuff.

interesting....they could adapt I suppose.Keep us updated.I think you have a better shot at it the way you are introducing the salt at different levels at a time rather than just tossing them into saly water. I know even gold fish and mollies will last a few weeks in salt but not for life.Eventually they die. right now they could just be"tolerating it" and then die as well.

Day two and all is well and happy.

It is really strange that the shrimp was to be the puffers food but now he seems as scared of them as they are of him.:screwy:
And they clean his house:nilly:
