Can fish Drive a Car on Land?

Apparently the answer to that question is, yes.

Goldfish are capable of driving cars on land, new study finds (msn.com)

“The study hints that navigational ability is universal rather than specific to the environment,” Ph.D. student and lead researcher Shachar Givon said in a press release issued by the university. “Second, it shows that goldfish have the cognitive ability to learn a complex task in an environment completely unlike the one they evolved in. As anyone who has tried to learn how to ride a bike or to drive a car knows, it is challenging at first.”

I just hope that "driving" a fish tank around a room is as far as their abilities stretch. God forbid if scientists discovered that fish could communicate with us. PETA would call them to the stand as chief witnesses to condemn us all to hell, lol.

I’ve said this in another thread. I wouldn’t say the fish is driving because he’s not aware of what’s actually going on. I could be entirely wrong but the more likely explanation is that they thought the fish to correspond that pink color with food and used some basic computer skills to map the fishes location on a 3D plain using the camera to track the movements which maps the fish and sends that information to a motor. Now if the fish was completely aware that he’s in a tank and based on where he swims in the tank will move the tank around the room and do so as he pleases them it would be a lot more of actual driving.
