I have 2 Silver Tipped sharks, both about 2 inches long, one slightly bigger than the other. The bigger of the two feeds just fine, but the smaller shark is having problems. I first thought that the smaller shark might not be eating because the water was to deep, so I lowered the water about 5 inches (oh ya, standard 10 gal tank) and then i saw the shark eat for the first time,:clap! This was also the last time i saw him/her eat, not even trying with the food right in front it, just swims right by.:( Now, since this shark is a schooling fish, is my shark too young to eat on his/her own? And by, "his/her own" I mean 2 sharks is not exactly a school of sharks. Or is it that he/she eats enough that he/she isnt hungry for 3 days? Or lower the water level more? Any help would be great.:grinno: Thanks:grinno:

Try brine shrimp.

No, fish cant forget how to eat.

Add some salt, they like it. Mine were "hyper" till I did some research and found out they (silver tipped, black fin, columbian, these are the three most common name for this shark) like a bit of salt, even through there freshwater days. I read just last night. they COULD be slowly acclimated to full marine. Witch left me thinking that they COULD stay in fresh or at least brackish thier whole life? I would also like to know this . they love beefheart.

How big are the silver tipped or columbian going to get? I might like to put 2 or 3 in my 125. Think 6 1/2" feet long worth of tank is enough for them to grow and not eat my cichlids or petricolas?

i actually switched to beef heart recently after you had told me about it. Its the only kind of food ive seen it eat. But i will get some salt and see if that calm him down. Thanks

they can get upto 24 inches long. I dont know if they would eat your other fish...maybe if they (yur fish) were really small compaired to shark.

i dont think anything can forget to eat lol..its instinct

So what I am hearing is that my shark just doesnt want to eat? Possibly sick? He is very active, i dont think ive ever seen him sluggish. So i find it weird that a sick fish would be that active...i dont know?

Get freshwater salt and he will be fine! ....They will eat any fish that will fit in there mouth. other than that peacefull fishes. Watch out for their spines! Mine got me while changing water....They are equipt with hemo-toxin....It is an anticuagulent..(will cause infection and extend the amount of time it takes to clot)......good luck!
