Can different sp. of Fronts be mixed? A LFS has three varieties and was wondering if the different sp. have different temperments?

I have two different types in a tank now. They are very young. It won't last long.

a frontosa will gladly cross with any other frontosa.
a frontosa will also gladly cross with any gibberosa.

Cyphotilapia consists of 2 species.
C. frontosa and C. gibberosa.

Keeping them together as adults can lead to hybrids, which if you are a conservationist is taboo.
As juvies, or a all male tank, no problem.

if you care not for what others think, look at it this way... if you sell the hybrid fronts tell people up front... it is a bad idea since you have no clue what others will do... but again no one can control you on this issue. I would never breed different types, there is enough of the other types to fill peoples needs...

Also regarding temperaments.
There is of course variability.

In general the kigoma/bangwe/boulombor/7 stripes are the most skittesh.
though i have had a kigoma eat from my fingers.

Mpimbwe, which is a tanzanian gibberosa, is claimed to have a 'puppy dog' personality.
I have been breeding WC mpimbwe for over 5 years, and have had frontosa for 10.
Mpimbwe are the most social, but i would not say puppy dog like.
mpimbwe also tend to be the meanest and hardest of females.
I have seen plenty of mpimbwe males kill females if in less than 6 foot tanks, even then some of them are just evil.

The zaire i have had have been pretty passive, as have been the burundi, without being skittish like the 7 stripe types.
