My Goodness that looks bad, what in the world is going on in your tank?
I hate to give up on an ailing fish but that infection damage looks like it is too far gone.

Would say put it down.

I told by somebody at my local fish store that it might have a chance and it might actually need to have the skin peel off, if I get five more put him downs I will though

So I think I caused it by doing a bit of overfeeding, then I added salt, it was only my second time ever using salt so I didn't know that catfish don't like it, plus I put it all in at once and i didn't know that was bad

I'll actually give 2 or 3 more days probably though, then the melafix treatment should be done

K, tomorrow I am taking photos to a local trustworthy fish store, and I believe they are going to say the same thing as you, then I will buy clove oil or something, God I feel so bad

Hello; I join the others that say put the fish down. Do it now, not tomorrow. Do not further prolong the suffering.
Show some mercy. Not clove oil tomorrow, do something now. A quick way I have used is to throw a fish very hard onto a solid floor.

Feeling bad when things go wrong comes with caring for our fish. I have no solution for that part. I guess I have lost enough fish and have put a few down to not question the need once I see a fish is beyond a cure.

Good luck in dealing with this.
