excuse me, can ask what is this behavior means?
are eel known can do this? or signs of stress or something?

Macrognathus maculatus Zig-zag eel

Seems to be lying around. Do you have a hide for it?

Any tankmates? Could be just stressed and getting used to the tank.

bichir, gar, rainbow shark, and pleco
rainbow shark the biggest before follow up by eel (longest)
no chase from rainbow shark

the eel has enter & hide in the cave

and stay out again...
even with some unoccupied hiding spot, it still chooses the corner
damn-

Maybe one of the fish is pushing it out. Bichirs will similar take up hides and even nip.

I'd be inclined to try providing some sort of hide that has a very small opening which the eel can still enter, and a smallish interior volume to provide a more secure sense of concealment. Perhaps something like a length of PVC or ABS pipe of small diameter. Better still, or in concert with the above, would be some fine-grained sand substrate for burrowing.

I'm always a little saddened to see fish that would normally live a hidden, cryptic life being kept in barren aquariums with no way to satisfy their retiring nature. That's what that otherwise-healthy-looking fish seems to be doing; just jamming himself into a corner, wishing for a better place to be...like a nice snug chunk of pipe...:)

heh... even it would reject the pipe, small long pipe.
that cave above & the pvc pipe are both & the only hiding spot.

the left & last to consider... sand

they are possible, but been watching...
the bichir has its hiding spot with some unoccupied, and no nip on the eel detected(nor on other fish)
as much want to say it's the calmest, there is no such thing as that. similar to this predator fish with no aggression, but it still has.
