Hi guys!

I have a 150 gallon tank with 1x 10" Oscar, 5x SDs, 1x 8" Featherfin Catfish, and 1x BGK. I just wanted to ask for your advice if you think I can add any poly species to my tank with my current stock? If so, what would you recommend? I'm thinking of rehoming the catfish if I can add a bichir but I'd rather not make any hasty/wrong decisions without consulting first.

I'd appreciate any input especially from veteran poly owners. Thanks! :)

Regardless of tank size/stocking which is a whole other can of worms, I think most polys would get along with your other tankmates if appropriately sized and well-fed.

Yeah you can do it, make sure the poly and BGK have enough room to stay away from each other though

The BGK is actually just 3". He's in a grow out tank until I can put a divider in my 150 gallon which he'll stay at till he's maybe 6" or so. That's why I'm considering adding a baby poly while they're both still young.

What kind of poly would you recommend that I get aside from a Senegal? I'm really new to poly so I don't know how big they get or how aggressive they are. I'm hoping for something that's not going to outgrow my tank and the least aggressive. I heard Ornate likes killing shiny fish so I'd be worried about my SDs. Hopefully not everyone of them is like that lol.

Anyone? :(

I'm really interested in getting one. I just don't know which one would work best. Are they heavy on bioload though? I'm not sure I'm ready to have an overstocked tank. I have no problems with ammonia/nitrites but with nitrates on my tap, I'm still working on a refugium to help keep my nitrates down.
