Nope a south african lungfish would mix with other fish but your community fish would become food and any lungfish species would outgrow that tank.

A 3' SAL is much thinner than a African or Aussie. 18" wide is a little thin, but they are very flexible and don't move around much when large. I'll chuck my big guy in the 6'x18" and take a pic so we can see the comparison....brb

Ok, here we go...pics of Sluggo in the 135...All the other fish were like "WTF!?! Everybody out of the pool!" when I dropped him in lol. And there's a pic of him with the 2' SAL for comparison...
