I have a 130gal tank, and have 2 oscars and BGK and some african cichlids..

I have one fx5 on it now and I'm adding another fx5 shortly have it here just waiting for media... Now I'm curious with this new fx5 can I add more fish since the new filter will more BB to break down the waste and etc... Is that how it kinda works ? The more BB ya have the more fish ya can house ? I mean type of fish and size would matter yes...

I'm thinking of adding a peacock bass in my tank, would be awesome to have a RTC but I've heard they grow crazy fast and would outgrow my tank within 6 months

Depends on how long the filter was running? It takes about a month to fully seed. Did you have a filter running before and stilling running it and for how long was it running? The pbass would eventually eat the African fish (depending on species of course) and the two Oscars may be aggressive. Yes the rtc is a no no. Pbass will also outgrow the 130. To me you are pretty much full with your stock. You didn't specify how many and which Africans but with two Oscars they are quite the bioload when full grown. But to answer your question better we need to know the filter questions I asked and the exact stock would help too

I have no idea how you keep a BGK with those fish, but congrats! I've always had mine get killed by other fish. I wouldnt add a pbass or a rtc, maybe just rehome some or most of your cichlids and upgrade with higher end fish? One fx5 should generally be enough filtration for that size tank...

ok so here is a list of every fish and how many as well a rough guess for size in my tank for you, please excuse spelling on some names of my fish

1 tiger oscar 6-7"
1 albino oscar 8-10"
1 tailspot ctenopoma 4"
2 yellow labs 4"
2 blue cobalts 3"/4"
1 bumble bee 5"
1 red zebra 3"
1 covict 4.5"
1 black ghost knife 8"
1 common pleco 7"
1 cichlasoma dimerus 6"

all sizes are guessing, right now the up and running fx5 is FULLY seeded as you would say or call it (been on the tank since day one) the additonal fx5 going on will be like a new unit from the store basically, used outside sponges and new media in the baskets... i have 4 other fish im waiting to grow out to add 1 gold severum, and 3 venutus haps (there extremly tiny yet) there in my 75g i have which i can move the africans and other to if absolutly needed due to aggression or problems in the future. and yea i know oscar can be aggressive but mine have never shown any aggression towards any other fish other then the red 10" oscar i tried adding in that was a rescue (had to move him into my hospital tank for a bit) he is also gone now tho of coarse.....

is there any other info needed to help with this ?
