I have a school of 7 RedHooks along with various other fish in a 240. They are about 5" in diameter and have lived together for the last 3.5yrs. There are 5males and 2females. Will the fish form one larger school if I add a few more similarly sized RHSDs? Does sex or number matter? Anyone done this with success before?

You could add what ever you want without any promblems. I added 2 5 inch silver dollars to my 3 black banned dollars about 5 inches with out any promblems. I have had few as 3 and as many as a dozen of black banned red hooks and regular sd's and never had promblems. They just all seem to school together. Even my mascara (filamnet barbs) would school with the gang.

Agree that is should be fine. SD's aren't too terrible hierarchical afaik.

How do u sex red hooks? Also, im curious about their growth rates. I have had 5 2inchers for about 1 half months and didnt notice significant growth.

Don't know but they seem to grow about an inch every 3 months. They will max out around 12 inches and they get really thick. jUST MY EXPERIANCE WITH THEM THOUGH.
