i just got back from Erie with my new trio of gymnogeophagus. im not quite sure what kind they are and if you can identify them for me i would be highly appreciative, i got an identification from the guy who sold them but like him, we both aren't sure what they are. they are in a grow out 29 gallon tank.

sorry for the bad pic as it was taken with my phone. the middle fish is a jack dempsey, he's not going to stay there for much longer.

You can breed them. But you might want to buy them a drink or something first.

ha you don't think a 29 gallon glass of fishy water will do?

after i get my 125 set up, i will be moving them into there with a few other fish. the list consists of, 1 geophagus, 1 piyara, 3 gymnogeophagus, and 1 oscar. all but the oscar are about 5", the three gymno's are about 3" up to 5". would this do?

I keep 5 gymnos in a mixed 90-gallon SA/CA community where they are the smallest fish; there is also a pair of Port cichlids and a male firemouth. the gymnos are docile and everyone gets along fine

I would think Oscars would ignore gymnos -- too small to be a threat, too big to be a snack -- but I have no idea how they would interact with a piraya (?)

well fastfish is who i got them from, and he's kept them all together. the only fish that i got from him that was just shy of perfect was the geophasgus, the only reason i say that is because his larger show quality geo started picking on him cause his fins to split. but all together beautiful fish. he kept the piraya and the gephagus and gymnos in the same tank together and they were doing fine, no damage to each other nothing! if i need to keep them separated then i can do that, but i kinda want them in the 125

they are still juvies, not yet fully grown, and my buddy got them from ken marked as maldonado's. so imma stick with that title until they get big enough to get a 100% ID.
