I read somewhere that Filter Floss can be bought cheaply, in bulk, from somewhere other than the LFS.

They are charging way too much for too little.

If it's available at a fabric place or something, is there something I should be looking for to make sure it is adequate?

Any info would be good.

My friends who buy from a fabric store get big rolls of it. You can order smaller rolls from places like big als, and it's a lot cheaper than the LFS.

I use quilt batting as well.

any polyster fill will work. you can get a big ass bag of it at the fab store for like a buck or two.

Just be aware that many wool/Cotton-fabric supliers pack in lined (inceticide) boxes to keep moths out (or so I am told by the fabric store).

Not usually so with poly-batting or synthetics, but if the fabric store gets both from a single warehouse it may be a concearn.

Just a heads up, nothing is for sure.

Perhaps an extra rinse before use?

yeah thats why I stated Poly fill not cotton batting. cotton will also break down in the water over time. didn't even think of the incesticide thing but thats a good point too. Make sure that you get 100% polyester fill.
