can I drill a hole in lace rock?

I was thinking of drilling a hole because there is not that many holes in the rocks. but my question is, if i drilled a hole in the lace rock will the rock crack.

not if you use a good diamond masonry bit... a core bit would be best and with a good drill with waterflow should be no problem.... just let the bit do all the work...

your best bet would be to do it very slowly. wet it as you go, to keep the stone and bit from getting too hot. an industrial style drill press would be best. my grandfather drills holes in stones all the time, to make beads. no matter how careful you are, they sometimes break, so have a back up.
