What size is this tank? The typical situation is that only the bottom pane is tempered. I've used polarized sunglasses to check for tempering in the past... under natural light outside.

As stated, size and brand information would get us closer to a good answer.

it is normal for tanks to have tempered bottoms. and the rest not, while i agree with checking into it, I think you will find that the bottom is tempered but not the rest.

found this list here in reference to Marineland/perfecto tanks.

Aqueon should be similar so that covers the most common tanks available. Look up your size and proceed with caution.

Even those 3D glasses you get at the movies will work too I've heard. If you're into that sort of thing.

Once annealed glass or float glass has gone through the toughening process it cannot be drilled or cut. I get a lot of customers come into where I work asking me to cut it, almost always ends a new peace of glass or them walking out..
