Can I enhance the colour or my endi bichir?

I'v had him for a while now and he is awesome but it would be nice if I could get the black markings darker, i'v seen some online that have really dark patches and wondered if this is diet or genetics?

some genetics... but if you put in darker sand his patterns will get darker. For instances if you have him on white sand now and change to black you will see his patterns get darker in a couple hours. But if you already have him on black then his colors are pretty much as dark as their gonna get.

Ok thanks, he was on PFS and now its bare bottom but I'm thinking of using black sand when my new tank is built so we will see how much brighter/darker he becomes

Dim lighting also make a big difference.

dark substrate + dim/indirect light will do the trick!
