As above. He is a silver arow, getting on for 7 inches now, some red tints and gold detail between the scales in some light. I have researched them for months before purchase. I currently feed him frozen prawns(thawed out) along with the standard hikari carnivor pellets (with an arowana on the packet). My question is, I'm interested in feeding them crickets and mealworms. Are these the ones pet shops sell for lizards? I spoke to one to play and they said they get them from here- www.monkfieldnutrition.co.uk. Are the crickets and worms good for an arow or even the ray I'm planning to get?

thanks.

They are.

Just go very light on the worms, because of their fat content.

On a sise note, if it is eating pellets you really do not need to feed anything else. Just giving her the option to refuse pellets in the future...

Is that how it really works? As I'm stoked he is on the pellets as soon as I got him. I was only thinking for a treat any how. Also he's got a lot more colour greyish red and hints of gold. When I got him he was just plain silver. Is this the hikari sticks doing there job? My lights are white. With 2 blue (moonlight) night time lights so I'm sure it can't be them?

It is a healthy fish. It will loose those reds and be a silver.

Yes i mean it. If it is on pellets, do not give her anything else ( 20+ years of aros under my belt ).

Mix other pellets, such as Nls floating. Get her to accept all good qulity pellets you can get and skip all the rest.

Some will have different opinions, but not I.

shes grows a like to the oscar pellets, are these ok for her every not and then?

should be fine. In addition to hikari carnisticks and massivore, I also give my arowanas tilapia fillet and peeled market shrimp as treats. A varied diet is best, but I avoid feeding live due to costs and potential parasites.

yeah ive tried him with shrimp and also a small silver feeder fish i buy and keep frozen (feed thawed) to my bircher but he has no interest in them, plus hes still a bit dwarfed by my 2 oscars who dont like to let anything win with food, i had to be quite wastefull when i first got him with food then remove the excess when i first got him to make sure he ate, hes grown about an inch and a half in the 2 weeks ive had him so im doing something right, he was about 5 maybe 6 inches when i got him oscars are pushing 9, they are leaving eachother alone as they have a decent size home.......for now
