I see these great big bags of koi food and i wonder if i can save money and feed my cichlids this stuff, as well as shrimp and worms, so they will still get a varied diet?
Would it hurt the cichlids?

What species?... SA/CA/African?

I can't see a problem, but you do need to vary the diet. I wouldn't use the pellets as a staple diet to top up with other foods, koi based pellets won't work, but in small doses shouldn't be a problem.

Why? It is protien for Koi and goldfish. Cichlids need a higher protein. Just my 2 cents.

he is asking because it is a lot cheaper....

If it was made for cichlids, it would say Koi/Goldfish/Cichlid food.

If it's not made for your fish, I wouldn't feed it. With the exemption of fresh foods.

I have koi, and a lot of the foods have color enhancers, and different ingredents for specific times of the year. Cichlids don't really experience different times of the year, as Koi do outside.

Just stick with cichlid food IMO.
