hello. I really want more fish in my tank but i think im maxed out. I have a 55 gal. hexagon tank. And in it right now is 1 tiger oscar thats almost 3 inches, 4 earth eaters that our about 2 to 2 and a half inches, 2 clown loaches that our about a 1 and a half inches, and a pleco thats about 3 and a half inches. they all get along great so i was just wondering if i could fit any more fish into my tank.

unless you have about a 125 gallon tank to move them in when they get a little bigger you're gonna have problems, the oscar is gonna get huge i think earth eaters can get nearly a foot long (correct me if im wrong anybody) that pleco is gonna end up over a foot and a half unless its a bristle nose and the 2 clown loaches will make it to around a foot each unless ur oscar grows significantly faster and eats them

Unfortunately a 55 is not a big tank. Step up to a to 48" 120 or 150 and it takes about the same space in your home.....Thats what I am doing in January!

Especially a hex tank. With the dimensions of a hex tank the OP should be looking for stock suitable to a 30g tank. Sorry to say most all the fish will need to be moved to a different tank.

Well im going to get rid of my tiger oscar very soon and i looked up my species of earth eaters and they only get up to 4 inches and my pleco is supposed to get up to 8 inches but i think they grow slower to.

I agree with the others, you are in for trouble down the line. Everything you have needs moved to a bigger tank. A normal 55g would be too small but a hex just makes matters even worse.
You are looking at a minimum of a 5x2x2 to house that lot as adults, 4x2x2 if your plecos are bristlenose and your eartheaters are not potential 12" fish. You will probably be down 2 clown loaches as the oscar grows, their growth rate is incredibly slow and the oscar will simply out pace them.

Going by your stock I would guess you were advised by your lfs that these would be ok and the usual plecos they offload on unsupecting customers are common plecos or sailfin plecos. Either way your looking at atleast 18" for your pleco if it is one of the two commonly sold ones.

For future reference, foot print is what matters on tanks that house larger fish. All these fancy tanks, hex and cylinder, are only really good for dwarf cichlids and other fish under 5". Unless it is a huge custom built hex or cylinder of course.

Edit: Just read your post above mine, please get a name for the pleco and or a pic so people here can ID it for you unless you have a firm ID already. I have seen commons sold with the info of up to 8" or sailfin plecos that get to 10" max.
With no oscar, small eartheaters and if your pleco is one of the smaller kinds then a standard 55g will leave you with room to get a few more fish. But bigger is always better :).

it is an orange spot pleco

Oooooh, sounds fancy. Can you post a pic, I'm intrigued?

When you google the common name you get lots of results that aren't remotely orange spotted.

Sorry this is my first time using mfk so i cant figure out how to post a pic.

here is a pic.
