Well, i looked at the african brown knife profile, and it said min. tank size is 50gals.
first, if its only 8", and relatively inactive, couldnt it be kept in a smaller tank, say, my 38gal?:grinno:

My 38gal definitely has room in it, and it has an ac110 filter. i have a decent amount of plants, and lots of driftwood.
the fish are:
1 angel
1 swordtail (should be gone soon, almost 5 yrs old now)
small school of red & blue columbian tetras
1 BN pleco
1 clown pleco
1 whiptail cat (Rineloricaria parva, wont top 4.5" when full grown, so takes up virtually no space)
1 ruby shark

so, taking into account my excessive filtration and the fact that i have room for the knife if i were to get one...

is it possible for me to get an african brown knifefish?

should be fine, some of the tetras may be eaten though. i have mine in the same size tank.

Sweet! The tetras i can get rid of i guess...
I cant wait to pick up a knife... Finally a fish thats decent sized, interesting, and wont do anything to my plants!

Mine never bothered Tetras, Bettas or any other fish for that matter. They're cool fish. They don't grow like an Oscar or anything, probably 1/2" a month at most.

they are generally timid and they dont come out in the open much unless its feeding time
