Definitely a Channa, I'm thinking Channa micropeltes/Redline Snakehead as they used to be called when available in the US. But I'm no expert so my ID maybe off on it being micropeltes.

Doesn't look like Channa micropeltes... It looks more like black snakehead (Channa melasoma) to me... but can't be sure as I am no Channa species expert.

That is channa micropeltes. Looks stressed washing out the normal coloration but it's definitely a micro, common name "Giant" or "Red lined" snakehead

May need to be dewormed. Those guys are known to have lots of tape worms.

Agree with DC and twilight, it's Micropeltes and definitely got tape worm. One of my micro wash out color due infected by tape worms.

I still have some doubts about the fish being Channa micropeltes. The coloration and non-pattern of the fins and the fins have a white (or perhaps yellow) outline seems to suggest to me that it is not the giant snakehead.

One thing which I would like to ask... does the tape worms also affect coloration/appearance of the fins??

Agreed, look exactly the same with my old Micropeltes before dewormed.
