Alrighty so I've got a 38 gallon with an Emperor 400 filter. Water is changed weekly and the parameters are good.

Current fish count is 9...clown loach, pictus cat, pike, cory cat, pleco, angelfish, blue gourami, mickey mouse platy, and a fancy goldfish. All of which are small. I know that some will outgrow the tank and I'll be upgrading as that happens...

But for now my question is can I get at least one more loach and a pictus cat? When I bought them I didn't know they liked to be kept in groups so I'd like to get a couple more for that reason. Maybe even two of each if possible. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance :)

I wouldn't, just to be on the safe side....but please, tell me you have AT LEAST 4 cories?

Also, 2 clown loaches will fight.

what kind and what sizes are your fish?
like you said cories and CL do better in schools, havent really seen a CL fight another, and I imagine the platy wouldnt mind having a buddy either.
with no more info though then whats stated, i think your pushing overstocked.

 OH MAN, I didn't see pike written there, I must have over looked it...What kind of pike? That probably means no good...

Yeah I already learned my lesson with the pike...LFS didn't tell me that he'd eat anything that would fit in his mouth and little did I know till he ate my girlfriends mickey mouse platy. However all the current fish are way bigger than what he could eat, but I know his day will come when I'll have to upgrade him to another tank.

And more than one clown loach would fight? I thought they liked to be in groups....

they do, im now up to 16 lol, however 3 or more works.

Nice, 16 cls. Yeah....2 is kind of risky. I'd stick with as many as possible, at least 3 or 4. They are a rough bunch of fellows.

Ah okay I see. Damn 16 thats a lot! lol...well I guess I'll just end up sticking with what I got for now because I know I don't have the room for more than 3

On a side note I'll have to post a pic of the Pike for an ID. Never got the actual species. LFS just refered to him as a Pike and didn't bat an eyebrow knowing I had a community tank. Wish I would have known otherwise. He's not agressive toward other fish but he will eat anything he can fit in his mouth like I said.

Goldfish are coldwater, the others are warm water. Pictus cat will outgrow your tank. Clown loaches will mature at 12"+. Pike will eat cory, platy, and gourami. Clown loach at risk too since they grow slowly.

I am going to suggest rehoming the clown loach. Your tank is overcrowded to be honest. Do not add any more clown loaches. What species is your pleco? Post pictures please if possible.

Your stocklist on the whole is mostly incompatible. I am surprised the platy is with the pike. How are the two coming along and how long have they been together?

Druu has summed up most of what I was thinking.
