I have a 125 g growout and i will be getting around 6-8, 2-3" discus to grow out in it.
can i also grow out 3 silver dats each abt 1", with the discus ??

dats - datnoids? nope sorry. either the dats or the discus.

thanks for replying.
i started the tank around a week back. They all seem gelling together well as of now, but i guess its still soon to say.

BTW any specific reason why u wont recommend this ??

the dats will grow to big,and will get supper mean and agressive and the discus will more or likely end up food for the dats.

2" to 3" discus are really small for a 125 gal. unless you get a dozen or more. Small discus will expend a lot of energy looking for food in a large tank, since growing discus need to eat almost constantly. It would be better if you had a small number of small discus to grow them out in a smaller tank like a 55 gal. They would grow much better. Dats and small discus are not compatible.

imo i have had dats with discus for awhile in same tank but once dats got a lil big i removed my discus to other tanks in risk of being dinner.. but dats grows slow
