I would get some exodons or a ruby red spilo. The exodons would be the best option because my ruby red isnt very active.

You've had it what like 3 days and you're already giving advice on their behavior? lol

I am just stating what I have noticed from owning both fish. The exodons were constantly on the move but my ruby red stays in one spot all the time.

I think the fish needs some time to settle in before you can truely tell it's behavior. It was just shipped in a bag across the country.

+1 ^

i had my red belly for a year or so before he started to be very active. not its been like 3+ ( alittle over 3 years ) i have him chaseing my finger, and when im on my computer he comes to this side of the tank most of the time. Great Fish if given time. i mean its a pet cant just get rid of him/her because they arent swimming circles and doing flips. need to give them time. ( still probaly wont do flips haha ) just saying tho

no matter how many times you tell people otherwise, people think that a piranha is a feeder shredding machine that will constantly be on the prowl for prey.

They're ambush predators. It's hard to ambush something if your moving around. Also, moving around burns calories, which means you have to ambush more things to replace those calories. They're a chill fish in the wild, they're a chill fish in aquaria.

Quoted for truth. Thats how I would put it, in my experience and the friends I know that bought one under the guise that it would be some great white shark of the freshwater aquarium world
