Okay well I got sick of my bare bottom tank so I decided to do this. Also is styrofoam toxic to fish? I wanna add a peice of quarts to it it looks look blood and its neat looking. I just don't want to put it on the bare bottom I'm thinking of removing the little pebbles

Yeah I know lol! I clear this tank Every day. Its a feeder / channel cat tank I don't Think iits slate. I found it in the yard. It could be tho. I may use the tank to breed convicts

Here's the rock and the left over spot in the tank. My brothers gonna bring me me some flat rocks from a stone wall. Should I put a peice of styrofoam on the entire bottom?

If you don't like the look of a bare bottom tank and you don't want to use substrate, have you thought about tile? It can easily be cut to size, I know that slate tile is safe, cheap and readily available.

Not saying what your going for now looks bad but it looks like it'll be a pain in the butt to properly clean.

ide paint the bottom or just find some aquarium backing or heck wrapping paper i liked. imo styro would be a pita if you didnt silicone it in... then dealing with any waste that got in the bottom... it could be a fun project.. but if your looking for fast and easy i think it wouldnt look very good. most the diy styro stuff takes awhile to do since it gets painted ect..

Not a good idea at all to put rock in a tank that you haven't a clue what it consist of. Usally red rock/stone consist of iron. Very toxic! Just so I told you so.
