ive read that ocell is part of the florida hybred theory. i agree with ocell.

Weren't those all caught from the same body of water in South Florida?

From my experience here, the Florida Cichlas shows some differences even when caught from the same lake or canal.

Even fries I've raised from the same batch of eggs shows different stripe patterns once they reach the 4-5 inch range or bigger.

Most will have three bars, a few will show only two, and still fewer only one. Some don't even have bars, just circular blotches on the mid section of their body.

I've recently isolated 5 two inch fries that were half-blacks. The half-black coloration disappeared once they reached 4 to 5 inch. Some of these formerly half blacks has that connecting dark line to the eye on the caudal.

I've also caught a few adult PBs that have speckling all over their body.

What we have here are probably mixed breeds from two to three different types of cichlas.

They all look cool though and all very fast predators but it seems not as fast as Tems. I now have one tank with both tems and florida cichlas and the tems are are much too fast than the locals and consequently growing much faster.
