I am about to purchase my first fw ray. A black diamond to be exact. I have a 150g with 1 18" aro, a 14" and 9" dat and a 5 3-6" dats, 13" bichir and a 12" flagtail. Filtration is a 20g sump and an fx5. I do about 40-50% water change every week. Is that enough filtration? Will I need to do more water changes?

Also, I will be upgrading the tank to a bigger footprint in 2 months. Probably going to up the sump to 55g

Went to my neighbors house who has 2 black diamonds full grown in a 500 gallon. Your 150 is not big enough, even for you 18 inch aro. Your kind of overstocked bro. Your dats will get huge and so will your bichirs. Don't get a ray. Unless you get a really big tank just like my neighbors

Ill just follow the rest here as they more or less said it all. Adding a ray to your setup is not a good idea. unless you want to throw that money away and kill a wonderful creature. You are completely overstocked. If you would like to send the ray to me for safe keeping and growing out a little till you get a larger tank up and running ill be happy to pick it up at the airport just pm me for time and availability. Ill save you the risk of losing it.

Don't think it's such a good idea starting with such a high priced ray

Get rid of the flagtail

If you are upgrading in 2 months why not wait until then to get the ray
