Can i keep my sterlet in my pond over the winter?

It gets cold over here. but the recent years have been pretty warm. barely any snow, maybe the minimum is 15 degrees farenheight. I know sterlets prefer cold water, but how cold is too cold. oh, and my pond is my 5000 gallon pool.:D
 
I agree, keep the surface open and the sterlet will be just fine. Cold water holds more oxygen, so colder water will be better. In extremely cold water, the sturgeon probably wont grow as fast (which really isn't a bad thing with a pretty big fish), but shouldn't have a big impact, especially if it's only a few months at a time
 
They are native in eeven colder areas than yours, so they should be fine. Make sure you keep a hole in the ice for gas exchange.
