With the current energy rates for gas and electric in the UK I'm looking at setting up some of my new tanks as temperate (sub tropical around 20 degrees Celsius).
Can anyone tell me if they have kept any of the following species at sub tropical temperatures and or what you opinion is of it.
Salminus brasiliensis (Dorado) - online research seems to suggest this species can be kept in water from 20-27 Celsius. Though the natural habitat of this fish suggests that it withstands temperatures from 15 Celsius (winter months) up to around 25 Celsius in summer months. Anyone tried keeping one of these guys without a heater?
Ctenolucius Hujeta (Hujeta Gar) - research for these guys online seems to indicate everything from 20 Celsius to 25 Celsius as being the minimum temperature. What's the min temperature that you guys would suggest for this species and how do you think it would thrive at room temperature, 20 Celsius?
Parachromis Doviio (Costa Rican Dovii)
Again for these I'm getting very mixed results online. Some say 22c is the minimum temperature while others say as low as 13.8c. The temperature in Costa Rica today is apparently 18 Celsius??
