I have a 75 gallon but i want to get a crenicichla compressiceps or maybe 2. Will this be bad in a tank with bichirs. they are small all under 5 inches. Or can u suggest another small pike

I have a Crenicichla menezesi in my 75 with a delhezi. The del is about 8", the pike is about 5-6

No problems at all

compressiceps is pretty small, you're probably better off with a larger species.

Which species of bichirs do you have?

I agree with FSM, the compressiceps does stay small and might end up as bichir food.

I suggest you start out with either Crenicichla sveni or Crenicichla lucius. Namely because they are great beginner pikes, fairly common, cheap, and still attractive!! Give you a good general taste of what keeping Crenicichla is like. :)

i agree that the dwarf pikes might be a bit small. id go with any saxatilis pike.

I didn't think senegals would be able to eat an adult comp....but if that's the case, I am mistaken!

lfs store said they only get pikes in once and a while or i can do a special order which cost more. I'll pass for now till i set the bigger tank. I decided to add a few african cichlids instead
