I just happened to have a lot of extra huge 5mm thick glass panels sitting in my shed. I was thinking maybe I could make an aquarium out of it. I realize it cant be very tall so I figured I could do a very long, very shallow tank? Like 5 ft (150cm) long, 1-2 ft(30-60cm) wide, about 1ft(30cm) tall. Oh, and like 3-4 braces. Would it work? Is it too risky?

You can go about 12-14 inches high with 5mm and be within the safety of 3.8 commonly recommended.

You should limit to 12-14 inches wide unless you make a stand the fully supports the base then you could go wider.
