OK, I know Im gonna get flamed for this, but I need to ask a question about meds and rays. I have had a male hystrix for about a year in my 240 gallon...healthy, eating nightcrawlers, 4-8 perday.........I recently added a small female hystrix (last monday). One week prior, I added 3 Silver dollars from my other tank (a 220 gallon) because they were getting bigger and wanted to spread them out as they were from my Dads tank that he broke down to go to Florida for the winter.... Within a few days of adding the female, the male hystrix stopped eating and became very inactive. I saw him poop yesterday and it was white and in splattered pieces, and indication of internal parasites. I added PraziPro yesterday, and within about 4 hours he perked up a little bit. STill didnt eat, but things were looking up.....this morning no change, no appetite.....all tank params are fine, smaller ray eating blackworms, tankmates eating fine....Ph 7, Ammonia and Nitrite = ), Nitrate less then 5, Temp 80 degrees, FX5, 2 AquaClear 110's,, two large powerheads....

I think I may have misdiagnosed the parasite problem, as now I notice there are a few fish scratching their gills in the tank that previously housed the silver dollars as well as a pike now scratching that is in with the rays, which indicate external parasites, and Prazi will not help that.....I know I am dumb for doing this (not quarentine:nilly:) but really didnt see any problem with the original tank, until now...

I would like to add Paraguard to kill any external parasites, but Prazi says "do not use with other medications".

Any thoughts?? I just dont want to screw thing up worse....... :irked:

I checked the label, no mention of copper, just "aldehydes, malachite green and fish protective polymers"....I woulkd love to treat for possible external parasites also....how about metronidazole??....Quick Cure combines Prazi and metro......
