Hi folks. I just received my 2 Eheim Classic 2217's to run on my 135G tank. The filters are too tall to stand underneath my tank. Will I run into problems if I position the filters on their sides?

watching this one avidly as i have the same problem after building a cabinet with a "filter space" thats now too bloody small as i went for a bigger tank!

over time the seal may perish and it will leak....plus the air bubble thing...id place it next to the stand out of the way :D

Well, I know my Fluval 304 will leak all over the place if you tip it less than 45 degrees. :)

I managed to get a hold of some people over at Eheim and they said placing these filters sideway might cause problems with the propeller. Shoo so now I have to stand them beside my tank instead of underneath. Ugly, but better safe than sorry. Dammit I wish I had 1 more inch of space underneath.

Just thinking here....So if you don't have one inch of clearance at the top of the canister, is there a floor in your stand, to where you could possibly cut it out and remove it? Just a thought.....

dig a hole ,, its only a inch ,, you can filll it in if need be in the future ,,, you know it makes sense , i am sure the wife/girlfriend will understand that the fish come first lol,
