Can i put a female Texas with my male Flowerhorn? the shop only sells small 2" texas, my Flowerhorn is 6.5" and very aggressive, i'm worried he might kill her straight away, i wanna breed them.

Also how long do Texas take to grow?

Id defo opt for a larger Texas if your gona try it a 2" fish won't take many attacks before it dies of injuries or stress , especially from a flowerhorn three times its size ( if you do it and it lives it'll be the hardest Texas ever :D )

With a large tank I have no issues with this but I also have even larger fish in the tank for them both to worry about

Yer few distraction fish would help any other tankmates at the min Gs ?

you're asking for a dead fish. 2" female compared to 6.5" seems like a drastic size difference. Not to mention, the male has probably reached sexual maturity and the female probably hasn't. That will only make the male even more aggressive. Texas may seem pretty aggressive, but i've yet to have one not get picked on by a flowerhorn of equal size.

No. Just don't do it. I'm assuming the "Texas" you're referring to is a H. carpintis. They don't grow as fast as FH do, and it'd be a while until you could grow one out from that size to breed.

Yeh a Carpintis, the true Texas are not available in my part of England, i'm not going to bother, he will kill anything i put in the tank.

female texas can breed once they are 4" but i know my breeding project was the other way around. i had a male gt that was 6" that paired up with my 4" rd fh. Oscarman2003 have some of the fry from them so you can hit him up for pics on the fry.
