my jar is 10inches and i am planning on buying a 3 or 4 inch oscar i have a 3 in convict witht eh jar and a 13inch pleco so it is possible to add an oscar

when your Jar grows to about 30-35cm it will beat the ***** out of your Oscar. I thought I had a peaceful Jar, then I put an Oscar in and within a day it started harassing it to the max.

Yeah, your jar is about to mature and kill everything it sees. I haven't kept them, but I have read thread after thread about jars reaching maturity and flat out killing everything they see.

It all really depends on your jar, most jars go nuts when they mature and kill off all their tank mates. Now if your real lucky, your jar might tolerate other fish in the same tank with it. It's pretty much a hit or miss type thing, but with your jar being a juvenile I would just keep an eye on it as it gets close to maturity and be ready to move fish if you have to.

Your ten inch jar hasn't eaten the 3 inch convict? In that case, I'd say you can try it out... but it might turn on them eventually.

Either way mostly only one of them will make through.
All the best though as you never know how they will behave.

in my fiance's 55 gallon, she has a 10" albino oscar and I have my 10" jar in there as a grow out. There are also 3 Jade gobys, a raphael catfish and a upside down cat in there. The jar started out in a 20 gallon when I first got him at 4". That night, I bought two little catfish and put them in with him....20 minutes later, both catfish were dead so he lived a few months solo.

then I took a jump and threw him in the 55 gallon. He is harmless to any of the fish. I personally think it made a difference that I put him in there when he was 7", and he was the smallest fish. Now he is the same size as the oscar and even 4" bigger then my smallest jade goby, and they get along great. I Havent seen him even nip at anyone in about 6 months.

now, in my other tank, I have a 21" silver. I put the Oscar in there with him and the oscar had a dime sized piece of flesh hanging off his skull in 2 seconds flat.

The best way is to have whichever fish you are worried about go into the tank first. If your jar has established his territory then you will have problems with putting a new fish. Best bet would be to rearrange the tank without the jar in it, then put him back in after you put the oscar in. It works better with new tanks. I have a mean buttikoferi that is about 6-7 in and i want a jar. Im gonna put my baby jar into my 65 and then let him grow a few inches then put my butti in.
