Can I put Angels in this 65 gal Hex?

I have a 65 gal hexagon tank that is 29" tall and 26" accross in any direction. I was hoping to put a pair of Bolivian Rams in the bottom, a few corry cats, a school of some sort of tetra and an angel or a pair of angels.

The question is will this work if I have caves and plant work in there. If not how many angels and what can go with them? I think they would look pretty cool in such a tall tank.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I used to have a planted 65 hex awhile back and kept 4 adult angel with no problem.

I would only want a pair I think. Would they be able to coexist with the Rams? I have read that in regular long tanks the tank has to be pretty big for them to, but I thought maybe with such a tall tank that it might work. Any opinions?

I dont see it as a problem with the rams.I also kept rams with angel and discus to.But this is in a 120 gallon.Only thing is if the angel pair up it will start chasing the ram.

Angels go great in a hex.

Agreed. They are one of the very few larger fish you can really put in a hex.

Angels would be fine with the rams...at least until they pair up. But the 65 is plenty tall to allow some breathing room for everyone.

What do you see as problems once they pair up? I think it would be awesome to have the rams and angels, but if it is going to cause problems for either I will rethink what I am doing. I want to try and do what is right for the fish as well.

Angels can get a bit nasty when they're spawning. But, as long as the rams stay out of their way, all will be fine. In a tank that tall, there's plenty of space for the rams to stay near the bottom and the angels, even if breeding, to hang out in the middle to top. I think it'll work out fine, honestly.

I normally buy 6 angels to guarantee a good pair.
