So I just gave my young caimen to my friend who just graduated zoology school in New Hampshire. This means new pet and now I can set up a new tank. I had the gator in a 120 gallon tank a long while ago and I was thinking about putting an arowana into the tank now.

My question is, I heard the urea from reptiles may stay in the silicone of the tanks and hurt fish... will my arowana be hurt from the remnants of whatevers left behind from the caimen? and if so, what can I do to fix that
thanx for the help guys

im not asking if the tank is too small for a 4 inch baby arowana for the time being or the for the 8 inch caimen for the few months that I had him in there....

The tank could be ok for a few years, what I would check is the seal on the tank. The claws can tear at the seals. If you put full pressure on seals and they hold just keep an eye on them.

Well, at only 8" I'd think the silicone should be intact. Doesn't hurt to check though.

And the tani will last a year before the aro outgrows it.

why not just sell the tank and save up for a 300? theres no point in buying a fish that fragile if you are going to have to rehouse it.

aros are not exactly fragile, I think it will be okay until it out grows the tank in a year.
