i reacently came back from Morro Bay and i found a few pices of wood that i would like to use in my tank. i was wondering if i could use in my freshwater tank??? Also i went to Lake Havasu,AZ and found a nice piece of wood under water and would i beable to use in tank even tho it was covered in slime?????

Maybe I go a little overboard, but I soak the wood in a bleach solution for 2 days, then rinse the piece in regular water over the course of a week (changing water at least once a day), THEN boil it. I haven't had any problems yet. If the piece it too large to boil, I bake it in the oven. I've had success both ways. Driftwood is too expensive to buy. $7.99 a pound?!
