I have a 75g tank with 3/8" glass. The tank does have a glass center bar about 10" wide. Would I be safe to remove top trim and fill the tank completely? I really prefer the rimless look. Even if it means adding some corner support somehow. I have searched and read through many people asking similar questions, but I havent found an exact match to my tank/glass and center bar combo.

Thanks for any info

What would the covers rest on?

well currently they rest on the glass center bar in the middle and the trim on edge. I was actually thinking of adding a couple glass cross bars on the left and right sides for that purpose as well as additional stability.

I have a 90 w/ no center brace and its fine. U mean the whole rectangular rim? U need that

Yeah I read on here once that the rim is irrelevant to the tank being held together. I mean have you ever noticed how weak the plastic is? I dont think its made to hold hundreds of pounds of pressure.

Also just dont ever end up in Prison, you'll really go rimless, LOL

See this is kind of my problem, one person says "you need that" the next person says "its cheap plastic it cant be holding much"(which is kind of how I feel) I think that if I can add the two additional glass cross bars siliconed in place that should be more than enough strength. My mind isnt made up I am looking for feedback from anyone who has done this.

Thanks

I honestly wouldn't.

The only reason I went rimless on my BioCube is because it's one piece of glass.

So you feel that without the plastic rim around the outside of the tank, that it will lose integrity and bow? Even with 3 glass cross bars? Man I wish there was some type of calculator for this. How much cross bar surface area you need to not bow based x number of gallons and y glass thickness.

someone jump right on that :)
