I have a 125 cichlid community containing a pair of Chocolate Cichlids 5.5" & 6", 7 Geo Surinemensis ranging 2.5" to 3.5", 2 Guianacara both around 4", and a Gold Nugget Pleco. I want to add another pair of mid swimming SA cichlid, and I want to buy a pair of Rotkeil Severum. Can I add them to my current setup, or would they be too aggressive? Should I add them, or is there a more suitable fish you can recommend? I most likely am not going to keep all of the geo's, maybe 3 or 4. Thanks.

i wouldn't add another pair. usually a pair in a smaller community, even a 125g will cause problems. i'd add a single fish

I wouldn't add anything except a smaller pike species, and a single one at that.

Depending on your WC schedule and rehoming option, I would do a smaller group of festivums before a pair of Sev's ... especially since they tend to hang middle to upper level.

the severum should be ok imo, but not as a pair, as someone stated earlier

:iagree:

Would a pair be constantly aggressive, or only during spawning? I have an empty 40g breeder that I can use during spawns?

????

i would just get one fish no pair.

Are your chocolates a breeding pair? I wouldn't suggest 2 breeding pairs in an 18" wide tank, kind of leaves one half of the 125 to one, and to the other, with the geos left scrambling back and forth between territories.. You could do as stated above, a single severum, certain pikes. Not sure if you like angels, they do good with these as well.

If you really like the Rotkeils, try to get 2 females..
