ok so ive had my orb girls for almost a month now and they've gotten really fat with twice a day feedings, do you think its ok for me to start starving them and introducing new forms of food? buying black worms constantly is burning a fat hole in my wallet, so yeah give me some feedback everyone!!

Just start throwing food in with the blackworms or one feed use a mix and your second feeding a day just use the other food. Also how big are they.

what i did was start soaking large earth worms with blood worms. then cut them up an feed, few days later they would eat just plain earthworm. then i took earth worms an cut them up an cut up some fish, let them soak together. i only skipped the morning feeding. by late night they where dieing for food lol.
but that might not work for u some can be pain. so if they are nice and fat and have a nice fat tail i would say then they are ok to go with out a cpl feedings.

I soaked for 2 days. But 24 hrs should do it. you just want the fish or shrimp to soak up the juices that come from the worms.. If it doesnt work, just keep trying. I have one female that will not eat shrimp. Never has since I got her and still wont a year later. But I keep trying.. (so she gets worms and silversides stuffed with vitamins)

How long should I soak the earthworms with the black worms??

and they are about the size of my hand, so 5 or 6 inches across

at least 24 hours, i usual do night before. if worms are big and ur rays are not use to eating them i would cut them up in to small parts before droping in, after a while they will learn how to slurp the whole worm.

alright i just mixed in some red wigglers (smaller and thinner than regular earthworms) with my blackworms. will try to feed them tomorrow morning. another good sign is that both rays pounce and chew on the earthworms but not actually eat them, so i think thats a good sign. will soak some shrimp in with the worms later when i feed my gar.

ive tried just dropping in shrimp and tilapia, didnt work.

wish me luck everyone! :D
