I want to use hollow bamboo wood in my aquarium and silicone it to the back wall to give some hiding room for my fish. The bottom will be all black granite tile.

Thanks!

Not an expert on it but i've read that certain bamboo tubes can be harmfull to the water, like chemicals or w/e.

I added some to my tank for my bichirs to hide in, andit turned black and slimy... Took it out right away, not sure if it washarmful or not.. prob wasnt even real, lol...

If you do add some, make sure the ends are files down to get rid of shap edges.

I have live bamboo in my 40 gal i have not had a prob with it ...i have taken it out a few time just for the heck of it.

is it lucky bamboo cause theres a difference

Hollow bamboo tubes will mold.
I have them in reptile enclosures, and if they cant dry out, they mold.

With so many hollow sections inside bamboo, i'd personally be a bit worried about potential nasties being trapped inside it causing problems...

Not to mention the mold problem, which i've seen in a lot of bamboo poles over here...

Why don’t we give this a try?I think it is a neat idea。
