I have an aquarium with a concrete b'ground that I made. Its been running over a year now. It has certainly leeched itself. My question is...I'd like to rain it and transfer my 20 long saltwater tank into it. Will the concrete cause a problem?

if you've had it for that long in the tank and it hasnt caused you any problems I'd say its stable enough to do it. Word of advice. use the old water from the previous tank it was in for even lesser "break in" time.

You mean from the 20 long salt?

Yes, I am pretty sure that is what he means. It will help the cycle along a little faster because the 20 gallon has an established bacterial population.

I agree that the concrete should be fine. The only issue I can foresee is it negatively affecting ph, so I would be testing that to see if it ends up low.

It will only help in that you will kill the freshwater bacteria and start the nitrogen cycle in this fashion.

Concrete background if it has been in for awhile and isnt effecting your ph now should be fine for the sw tank.

Allow me if you will to give you a little info on quite a bit of "live rock" now a days... It is in fact 100% concrete/cement.They take it out by the tons and throw it in the reefs. Then a few months later, they go back and drag it back up and *presto* it's now sold to people as "live rock".
sounds insane but its true.Search "google" for it...

This is true. It is pretty easy to spot though in my opinion. They usually sell it as aquacultured or some other term like that.

hahaha that's crazy, good way to make money i suppose, though it's not too diffcult to see what used to be acropora and what is obviously a lump of concrete... is it?

well, depending on how long its been left to, damn... I'm not even sure what word to use? "cure" things will grow on it and hide the fact that it is actually concrete but most of the time, yes, you can tell if its concrete.

This is why you should only buy the pacific stuff if you are going to go the LR route...its basically made of old coral...parts of the reef that have broken off.

Like was mentioned before...hunks of dead coral look quite a bit different, but needless to say there are people in the LR business looking to make quick cash on suckers in more way than one!
