Can I use this as a stand??? The price is right.

You’ll have a couple thousand pounds of water, maybe 500# worth of (I assume) glass tank plus gravel and misc. so you’ll likely come in under that two ton rating. That said if the tank is acrylic or rimless glass I’d put a half sheet of 5/4 plywood on top as 2’ between supports is too great a span for either.

I might slip the other half sheet on that bottom shelf. Be sure to seal it first as you’ll be getting it wet over time.

Nice find.

Yeah, that thing would be terrific. Easy enough to clad it in panelling, wood, etc. to make it into a decorative piece if desired. Perfect spot for storage and/or a sump underneath as well.

I read the thread title and thought "Here we go again! Somebody's found a piece of cardboard furniture from IKEA that somebody else left on the curb for the trash pick-up because it's got two broken legs... and now they want to put an aquarium on top of it!" Instead...what a pleasant surprise! :)

Yea I’m excited!! This tank will complete my fish room build and it was a journey finding a stand/ tank with 4x4 dimensions. I never bought from this website but found a 20 percent off coupon in my spam.

I skinned my other tanks black and tank back round. see below

I am thinking of doing 4x4 in high gloss white. With oversized skin hope fully the colors don’t clash see below.

ive done it.. just cover it up like everyone else.. having a steel frame helps me sleep at night when i run anything large than 200 gallons.

So I decided it is probably a good idea to reinforce the perimeter with 2x4 any tips on how to build a frame around the tank that is load bearing?
