can I use this as substrate?

It larger then normal gravel about 1/4 of an inch but i like the looks of it, I am looking for some type of crushed natural granet but have had no luck.

This is for a 2 gallon fish bowl that will be planted with co2. Mainly column feeders anyway with a little leftover eco complete mixed in.

I don't see why not. But if it's only a bowl, why not go with some regular gravel?

i like the look of this better. I want a real natural look but don't want sand because of cleaning.

it will be in my cubicle and 80 feet from the nearest sink.

I considered regular pea gravel but really would like a greyish colored rock.
